Introducing Doodlebugz and DooDadz!

So, if you know me..you know I like to do things in a big way...so I decided to name the clothes I make my granddaughter.  Back in the day when I made tshirt dresses and painted I called my stuff "Designs by Zandra" ...just too plain for these fashion statements.  I wanted to incorporate the "Z" in GranZee and since I call Lily my little Doodlebug I came up with
"Doodlebugz"
What do you think??
All the other junk I do like bows, burpcloths, and decorations will be the "DooDadz".
So...here's my first "collection" (ha) of Doodlebugz to take to Lily on my trip to Baton Rouge today.  I'm going to be one of those grandmothers that has to take "prizes" when I go.  I'm also taking her a book.

A onesis with a polka dot watermelon...just right for summer.  I wonder if my Lily girl will love watermelon as much as her mommy?  I used the font built into my machine for the first time..too plain...but I'm trying to learn.

Ruffle Butts are so stinkin' cute!  I went on line and found a tutorial.  I don't have a serger (yet) so I did the ruffles.  Super cute !  Not too hard...but I know it will be easier next time.  Can't wait to see Lily's little hinny in this!

I'm such a fan of gingham check.  I bought this lime and hot pink to do watermelons, but did this instead.  I love it.  Such a cute outfit for an outing out with Mommy and Daddy.  It's a onesie dress!  I taught this to myself and I KNOW it will be easier and neater with a serger.  I cut the onesie and did the embroidery first.  Then I sewed the green and pink together and then gathered and embellished with the rick rack.  I then sewed the skirt to the onesie.  Then I added the ribbon and bow

I made this first with the cute litte flower design.  I actually made the dress to match the burpcloth.

Now, with a dress little girls need cute bloomers that coordinate!

I topped it all off with a matching headbband,  My first "Doodlebugz" coordinating collection...let's call it
 "Lily's in Bloom"

Just in case Lily needs something to wear to a crawfish boil.  She'll be stylin'

Rachel took me into a shoop and showed me these onesies with tutus.  The tutus were not sewn on like this but knotted.  I did some research and decided I liked this look better.  I found the embroidery design on etsy from Embroique.  I think it turned out super cute.  Can't wait to see Lily in this!

Love the matching headband!

Prissy butt!

Lily's prize!

So, I'm off to Baton Rouge to take a class and buy some equipment to make this stuff easier.  It is not as easy as I thought it would be!  I love it and have so many ideas in my head of designs to do.  Going to buy some patterns and fabric too.  Ready to do some fall and LSU stuff!

Birthday Shirt for Ty

One of my favorite little boys in the entire world is having a birthday and his mommy wanted him to have a special shirt to wear to his racecar party.  I'm still a beginner at applique and embroidery ,so I was
very nervous about branching out and doing something for someone other than Lily.
But here goes...

Ty's is turning 4!  Black and white check like a checkered flag, of course!

Baby brother, Fischer, needed a shirt to wear to the party!

Not the best job, but it's the thought that counts!
Happy Birthday Ty!

I'm headed to Baton Rouge tomorrow for some software and a class to make life easier with my machine!  This trial and error and learning on my own is for the birds!  Also, going to buy a serger!
